Fees and Policies

We offer fixed fees in Elder Law and hourly fees in Bankruptcy

ELDER LAW:  All Elder Law/Mediciad engagements are handled on a fixed fee basis.  We meet with each client/family to determine their needs and then provide them with a written fee quote for the services which we determine will be necessary in their case.  No client is billed for services except for recording fees or other incidental costs.  All services in this area are pre-paid.

BANKRUPTCY.  The firm does not presently accept new Consumer Bankruptcy cases except those which require filing under Chapter 11.  All commercial cases, and all Chapter 11 consummer cases, are handled on an hourly basis with an initial retainer.
For Elder law we accept cash, checks and credit cards.  For Bankruptcy we accept cash or checks only.

Paperless Office.  We are dedicated to reducing the amount of paper generated in our practice.  Both as a question of waste reduction, and as a matter of ecological preservation, and reducing energy consumption, we believe that using technology is an important part of "green" practice.

We keep all client records in secure redundant electronic form.  Every document which we are provided is scanned for filing and reference and reproduced with photo-copier quality results.  Our clients can play a important role in this scheme.  First, we ask that our clients allow us to communicate with them, and provide them with file copies of materials, by email.  We use industry standard pdf files which can be opened, read and printed using free pdf software installable on any pc.  We also ask that clients provide us with documents, if at all possible, by fax.  We have a toll free fax number which means that faxing to us does not cost the client anything addition.  We will even loan a fax machine to a client who does not have one available during the term of our engagement in order to facilitate their interactions with us.

Of course, our offices are open regular business hours and we are happy to see any of our clients in person.  However, we think that saving gas, saving trees, and reducing waste are goals we can all work towards.
